Recently I spent a few days in Kuching, Malaysian Borneo en route to East Timor. Beautiful basket work but dangerous place as has the highest casualty rate in the world per capita for pedestrian head injuries from descending boom gates.
I am a visual artist who works predominantly with natural fibres and discarded materials. Born and raised in Australia around the Queensland/New South Wales border region, I now divide my time between the Gold Coast hinterland and Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. Straddling these excitingly different worlds is a central and recurring theme in my work.
